Hey, everyone! You’re looking dapper today, keep rocking on with yer bad self! How are Kieran and I doing? We’re wonderful, thanks for asking! This Friday I bring you The Hartnett Highlights: Current Happenings.
THE YURT PARTY
I’m fucking stoked you guys, Kieran and I are going to a yurt party in Northern California soon. Yes, you read that correctly, a yurt party. Kieran and I are yurt party people now. One of our guests through Airbnb told us he built a yurt to live in with his wife. Every summer they throw a party on their property with live music and food. Whelp, Kieran and I thought that was the coolest thing we’ve ever heard.
Our guest beamed at our excitement and asked if we wanted to attend this year. My eyes protruded out of my face and I screamed, DO WE??? FUCK YEAH, WE DO!” We told our guest if we could figure out the logistics, we’d love to attend.
Shortly after our guest checked out, I began researching the trip. My sister can attest when I organize a vacation, I’m in my element. I geek out over research, making lists, planning logistics, all of it. I’m excited to announce we’re making the trip happen. Our guest lives near San Fransico so we’re planning on driving along the Pacific Coast from Portland, OR, camping along the way. As a matter of fact, I’m most excited about the drive because we heard the scenery is astonishing. I have a feeling this will be an epic adventure and I’m looking forward to telling you all about it!
THE PROJECTOR PROJECT
If you follow Shock Munch on Facebook you may have seen the live feed I broadcasted about our projector project. Although our home is adorable, the living room doesn’t allow for a big screen tv. Of course, big screen tv’s weren’t around in the 1930’s so anyone who’s purchased a house in that era has the same problem. We wanted to watch movies but didn’t have a solution as to where. Luckily the answer was right in front of us. We have a giant domed shaped picture window in our living room that now doubles as our entertainment center.
Kieran hacked together a remote-controlled projector motor with an 8-foot long projector screen. With a push of a button, we can lower or raise the screen to watch a movie, whenever we want. In addition, we each have our own couch to stretch out on! The screen is slightly wrinkled at the bottom, which warps the projection from time to time, but that’s something we can fix.
The projector project has been on our docket since we moved into the house, so I’m thrilled it’s done! And just in time for Game Of Thrones! Does anyone want to come over for the season 7 premiere?
IMPROVING SHOCK MUNCH PHOTOGRAPHY
In order to improve Shock Munch, I’ve gone through my site and taken down recipes with old, janky-ass photos. Holy shit, I took down half my content. I’ve decided to reshoot the older recipes again to achieve a cohesiveness throughout my entire website.
I’ve been binge watching YouTube tutorials and pouring thru food blogs to absorb new tips and tricks to improve my photos. The two shots above are the before and after for my Zucchini Cobbler recipe. I curious how to make my photography pop, so I’m also studying Photoshop and Lightroom tutorials to boost my editing abilities. Additionally, I’m playing around with lighting so you’ll see darker, moodier shots in the near future. Although I strive to take better photographs, all and all I’m happy with my improvement. I feel like I’m on the right track 🙂
OK, that does it for this edition of the Hartnett Highlights. Stay tuned for future happenings!
Thanks for stopping by,
Christina
