I’m bringing you delicious and Gluten Free Jalapeño Poppers this week! I adore the taste of jalapeño poppers but rarely eat them since they’re fried. I don’t have anything against fried food, but I try and limit my fried food intake for health reasons.
I’m a hypocrite since I wrapped the Jalapeño Poppers in bacon, but who’s paying attention to details, I rarely do 😀
Butt seriously, fried food is delicious but I’m lazy. I’d rather pop food in the oven and be done with it, instead of messing around with hot oil. Especially, cleaning UP the used oil afterward. Ain’t nobody got time for that shit!
So I made oven baked Gluten Free Jalapeño Poppers which are even tastier than their fried cousin!
I’m hosting a baby shower for my friend Phoebe in a couple of weeks and wanted to test a couple recipes beforehand. Phoebe’s husband, Eric, has a gluten allergy. I wanted to ensure he could eat some appetizers since he’ll be in attendance too. I figured Gluten Free Jalapeño Poppers would be perfect!
Phoebe’s baby shower will be the first big party Kieran and I host at our new house! Our home is perfect for entertaining and I’ve been dying to throw a party, Phoebe gave us the ultimate excuse!
After Phoebe asked if she could have the shower at our house, she asked if we didn’t mind hosting a large shower with 25+ people. My response? Let’s fill this fucker up!!! Yes, I affectionately refer to my house as fucker, my house is cool like that.
Now that I’m hosting the baby shower, I get to come up with fun appetizers for the guests! Again, since Eric has a gluten allergy I wanted to be considerate and make him an appetizer he can eat too. Gluten Free Jalapeño Popper’s it is!
Gluten Free Jalapeño Poppers are uncomplicated to put together. Simply cut the jalapeños in half, scrape out the seeds and veins, stuff them with cheesy goodness, wrap them in bacon, and bake them for 20 minutes.
Throwing a large shower or party and need to make several batches? You can make the poppers days in advance, just freeze the assembled poppers before cooking! I plan on freezing the jalapeño poppers a few days before the shower because the morning of will be hectic AF. The more food prep I can accomplish beforehand the better!
Adapt the jalapeño poppers to your liking by adding more or less cheese, cream cheese, seasonings, or bacon. I wrapped bacon around each individual popper but if you prefer, cook then chop the bacon into small pieces, and add them to the cheese mixture. Then stuff the poppers with the cheese mixture and bake. Either way, they’re sure to be a hit with your popper loving family and friends!
You’ll notice in the food photography I added a few dried cranberries before wrapping the jalapeño poppers in bacon. It may seem like an odd pairing, but cranberries and jalapeño are a delicious duo. Another tasty match for cranberries is brie cheese. Get experimental and try brie cheese stuffed poppers, topped with a few cranberries, I bet the results would taste fantastic!
We’re still in the midst of football season and heading full steam into the holiday season. As a result, these Gluten Free Jalapeño Poppers are the perfect party food for these occasions! They’re easy, mouth-watering, yet highly adaptable.
If you love jalapeño poppers but have a gluten allergy, give these tasty fuckers a try!!
Thanks for stopping by,

- 5 jalapeño poppers
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup Colby jack cheese
- Garlic clove, minced
- 1-2 heaping tablespoons fresh chives, chopped
- 1-2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- Dried cranberries (optional)
- 5 pieces of bacon
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and line a cookie sheet with tin foil. If you have a baking rack, place the rack on top of the tin foil.
- Cut the jalapeños in half, scrape out the seeds and veins unless you want your poppers extra hot.
- Combine the cream cheese, Colby cheese, garlic, chives, and smoked paprika in a bowl. Stuff the cheese mixture into the jalapeño halves. Top some of the jalapeños with cranberries if you're down. Wrap each jalapeño with a piece of bacon.
- Place the jalapeños on top of the baking rack and put the cookie sheet in the oven. Cook them until the bacon is the crispness you desire (roughly 15-20 minutes). I started watching the bacon after 10 minutes, to ensure it didn't crisp too much. I advise you to keep an eye on them, just in case!
- After cooking, remove the poppers from the baking rack and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain for a couple minutes.
- Lastly, serve the poppers with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!!!
