Recipes so good to munch on they're shocking

The BEST Yucatan Shrimp

August 16, 2017 By: smunch4 Comments

This is the BEST Yucatan Shrimp recipe you’re ever going to make. It’s chalk full of garlic, butter, and spices. It’s the perfect recipe to share with family and friends for the remaining summer days or even Labor Day weekend!

I love shrimp and Yucatan Shrimp is my all time favorite. This recipe is packed with all kinds of goodies like garlic, butter, jalapeno, spices, and fresh herbs. You can serve it as an appetizer or a main dish so this recipe is perfect for parties or dinner.

I can’t believe Labor Day is almost two weeks away! As you gather with your friends and family, you’ll need a dish to share. Yucatan Shrimp is a no-brainer in these types of social situations. The recipe takes less than 15 minutes to prepare and can be cooked on a stove top or grill. But what about the taste? OMG, the taste. Have you ever wanted to face plant and motorboat your food because it looked so appetizing? You will now. Oh yes, you will now.

Butter and garlic have to be the BEST flavor combination on the planet. Well, maybe the best goes to chocolate and (insert basically any other ingredient here). But, butter and garlic are the runners-up. I made the Yucatan Shrimp with 12 cloves of garlic and 8 tablespoons of butter. You read that correctly, 12 cloves of garlic.

Of course, you can adapt the recipe to include as little or as much garlic as you like. For me, when it comes to shrimp the more butter and garlic the better. Every drop of this recipe is perfection. As you bite into the BEST Yucatan Shrimp the butter will dribble down your chin while the garlic and spices tickle your taste buds.

Let’s talk about those spices which consist of jalapeno, red chili flakes, smoked paprika, and Sambal Oelek.

Sambal Oelek is my new favorite recipe enhancer. It’s made from hot red chilies, vinegar, and salt, that’s it. It adds a fiery component to your recipes without altering the flavor. It’s a great way to add heat to eggs, pasta, stir-fry, pizza, or Mexican food.

You may feel the garlic, jalapenos, red chili flakes, smoked paprika, and Sambal Oelek are spicy overkill but I love it. The butter and olive oil dilute the heat of the dish while keeping the integrity of the spicy flavors intact. But you know yourself better than anyone else. If you don’t like spicy foods, you can adapt this recipe to feature less.

You should have leftover sauce after devouring the Best Yucatan Shrimp. Don’t let that scrumptious sauce go to waste! Grab any carb you can find and SOP IT UP. The shrimp is an impressive first act, but the sauce is the star of the show! You’re welcome to grill, boil, or bake your shrimp and add it to the sauce afterward. However, I cooked the shrimp in the sauce to impart as much flavor as possible.

I usually eat this recipe as an appetizer, but it would make for an amazing main dish too. I’ve never served this recipe over pasta, but can only imagine it’s to die for. I mean, butter, garlic, shrimp, and noodles? That sounds mouthwatering AF!

I love this recipe, it’s simply the BEST Yucatan Shrimp you’ll ever make. If you and your family love shrimp, you’re going to love this recipe too!

Thanks for stopping by,
Christina
