Dude, are you in charge of bringing the ice cream to Thanksgiving or Christmas this year? Do you want a cheap, easy, and quick ice cream recipe that will impress your family and friends? You do? Oh shit, you better find another blog. HA! Just kidding, I got you covered.
No Churn Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream doesn’t require an ice cream maker and only contains 4 ingredients. You can get jiggy with it and add extra flavors but I prefer classic vanilla with my holiday pies. As Chef John would say, you dictate the theme of your vanilla ice cream.
Sure, can you run out to the store and buy a jug of vanilla ice cream? Yes. But wouldn’t your family and friends think you’re a rockstar (more than usual) if you show up with homemade ice cream? And they don’t have to know how easy the recipe is. You can lie and say you slaved all day and night in the kitchen. I won’t tell on you.
Adding the bourbon to the recipe is optional but I highly recommend it. It gives the vanilla flavor a little more depth. Is it safe for kids to eat? I think so? The recipe contains 2 teaspoons of bourbon for the entire batch of ice cream so I don’t think it’s harmful. Of course, I’m not advocating for you to get your child inebriated, don’t call the authorities. #itwasntme
No Churn Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream is insanely delicious. I’ve made homemade ice cream with my ice cream maker countless times but this no churn business tastes like the real deal. Almost annoying so, do you know what I mean? Here we’ve been churning our ice cream in our ice cream makers for ages and it turns out we don’t really need to. All you have to do is slap 4 ingredients together and your freezer does the rest.
You may not need an ice cream maker for this recipe but you will need either a hand mixer, a standing mixer, or superhuman arm strength to whip the heavy cream. If you have either a standing or hand mixer, this recipe will take you roughly 5 minutes to put together. It took approx 3 minutes to whip the heavy cream on my mixers high speed. Once the cream is whipped you fold it into the condensed milk with the rest of the ingredients and you’re good to go. Like I said before, your freezer does the rest.
The texture of No Churn Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream is soft and creamy because the alcohol may help prevent ice crystals from forming during the freezing process. However, ice cream that contains alcohol tends to melt faster. That’s the one downside to this recipe. As I was shooting the photos for this post the ice cream quickly melted. I refroze the ice cream after my photo shoot and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. I figured refreezing the ice cream would monkey with the texture but the ice cream was still soft, creamy, and easily scoopable.
Alright, folks, that’s a wrap on No Churn Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream! This recipe not only tastes remarkable but is remarkably easy to make. With a little bit of effort, you can make delectable vanilla ice cream to plop on top of your favorite holiday pie. Does your Auntie make her pecan pie with bourbon? Well, this No Churn Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream is her pie’s best friend. Yikes, OK, things just got weird. #sorrynotsorry
Anyway, you get my drift. This ice cream is simple and will impress your friends. They won’t believe it’s no churn ice cream and neither will you!
