Citrus Berry White Wine Sangria is so crisp, light, and refreshing, it pairs perfectly with a hot summer day!
Is the extreme heat melting your face off this week? Cool off with this refreshing Citrus Berry White Wine Sangria!
The weather in Portland is dangerously hot this week. The temps will hold steady around 100 degrees. I loathe extremely hot weather so I’m bunkering down in my basement trying to stay cool. Trying is the operative word, I’m currently sweating my pants off.
When the weather is this uncomfortable, I reach for anything refreshing to combat the heat. Luckily for me, the Citrus Berry White Wine Sangria is easy to make, and soothing to sip!
When developing this recipe, I had two versions of the sangria I wanted to try, but I wasn’t sure which recipe to go with. Making up my minded deemed impossible, so I decided to make 2 versions of the Citrus Berry White Wine Sangria, then choosing the best tasting recipe for the blog. I’m thrilled to say BOTH sangria recipes were a hit so I wrote out the ingredient list for both!
I used less fruit and more sugar in one batch, and the opposite for the other. The extra fruit flavor wasn’t particularly noticeable, however, the sweetness was. Obviously, the extra sugar made one batch sweeter, but it wasn’t overpowering, especially after topping off the wine glass with sparkling water. I saw some recipes add a cup of sugar to the sangria but I’m not a huge fan of overly sweet wines. I enjoy drier white wines, so I normally stick to pinot grigio, which proved to be an excellent vehicle for the sangria.
This Citrus Berry White Wine Sangria is so crisp, light, and refreshing, it pairs perfectly with a hot summer day! I fell in love with the sangria after the first sip. So, I can’t wait to make this recipe again this summer. By the looks of the scorching hot forecast, I’ll need to make this recipe on a regular basis!
Seriously though, the bubbles from the sparkling water combined with the slightly sweetened wine, fruit, and mint make for a refreshing, and addicting, summer cocktail.
Stay UN-thirsty my friends. Bottoms up!
